Water Footprint Hub – “I’m Aqua Chef” Cooking Competition

“I’m Aqua Chef” Cooking Competition, the first workshop on Water Footprint, was organised in July 2018 for secondary school students to learn about dietary Water Footprint in a light-hearted, hands-on approach. After learning the concept of Water Footprint and its significance, students were then divided into groups and participated in a cooking competition that aimed to inspire innovative implementation of the concept in everyday diet, given the challenge of creating a low-Water Footprint dish with their newly acquired knowledge.

Water Fun Fest 2018

To celebrate the annual “World Water Day” (March 22). JC-WISE organized the “Water Fun Fest”, the first carnival with the theme of "Water" in Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Science Museum between March 24 and 25, 2018.

The Water Fun Fest developed various kinds of interactive and infotaining games and exhibits with up-to-date AR technology in order to educate the community on the concept of water footprint and multiple functions of rivers in Hong Kong, so as to elevate the participants’ awareness of water conservation and the importance of water sustainability. The event has successfully attracted around 12,000 public participants.

The water footprint calculator developed by the Project, which is the first web and mobile application in Hong Kong to show the virtual water content of selected local dishes, has attracted over 60,000 users.

“My River, My Community” Guided River Tours

Building on the interactive open-access (GIS-based database) on Hong Kong’s major rivers and multi-media materials, such as drone video of whole river catchment, JC-WISE organised professional “train-the-trainer” workshops and guided field trips to 7 selected river catchments to nurture river ambassadors, to enhance public knowledge and emotional connection with our city’s river, in turn, leading students and public on guide field trips in future in order to appreciate our rivers.
