The Water Fun Fest was the first carnival with the theme of "Water" in Hong Kong and the highlight of JC-WISE public education campaign. In collaboration with the Hong Kong Science Museum, as a part of the HK SciFest 2018, the Water Fun Fest has successfully attracted around 12,000 public participants between March 24 and 25, 2018. The Water Fun Fest developed various kinds of interactive and infotaining games and exhibits with up-to-date AR technology in order to educate the community on the concept of water footprint and multiple functions of rivers in Hong Kong, so as to elevate the participants’ awareness of water conservation and the importance of water sustainability. To stand out from the crowd, an interactive digital “WISE River Sketch” was built in an ultra-clear LED Wall which not only allowed families to transfer their 2-D drawings of animals and plants to become 3-D objects living in the virtual riverscape, but also enhance their understandings of multiple functions, including bio-diversity and recreation, of rivers. Through building their own river in the AR Intelligent sandbox, participating parents and children understood the knowledge about river formation and management. Fisherman experience game and illusion art of Hong Kong river helped refresh our connection to local rivers. Participants also enjoyed playing interactive games to learn the concept of water footprint, such as using tablet to dig out the hidden water footprint of food in a virtual supermarket, exploring the first-of-its-kind water footprint mobile app developed by JC-WISE to design a healthy menu, and figuring out the water footprint involved in the food producing process by completing the puzzle. After the Fun Fest, participants were able to capture the important message of water sustainability and willing to commit themselves to implement water conservation in daily life.
